Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty, The eye is a very interesting area. It’s surrounded by fat, and as we mature, the membranes that hold that fat begin to relax and the fat comes forward, giving us the puffiness.
The same time for most people though, the cheek begins to drop creating a little hollow or groove underneath the eye.
When we perform eyelid procedures, often times we’ll sculpt that extra puffiness that has come forward by making 3 little incisions on the inside of the eyelid. If someone has a lot of loose skin we can take a little pinch of skin on the outside.
But then, typically, we’ll want to fill up that hollow. If it’s a man, sometimes we can roll that fat into the hollow from all on the inside of the eyelid.
If they don’t have enough puffiness to justify that, we can fill that little hollow in either with the patient’s own fat, or we can use a little filler like the Juvederm Voluma or the Juvederm Ultra to help restore and lift that cheek to give that more youthful looking eye. Recovery from lower eyelid is very easy, usually minimal pain associated with it.
Most patients find that they’re back into action in just a week, and back to strenuous activities usually with 2 weeks.
