Post Blepharoplasty Instructions, These are some post-surgical instructions that you need to know after having the surgery. The first thing you want to do is make sure during that first 24 hours you have someone that takes you home, if you’ve had sedation that day, that they spend 24 hours with you at your home.
The second thing you want to do, make sure you keep all the dressings in place, if you have a patch on, you leave the patch on for the amount of time that the physician has told you to leave it on, if you have some dressing in place, you want to keep it dry and clean.
If you’re instructed to use antibiotics, typically for eyelid surgery, we use antibiotics two times a day, the ointment is placed over the incision and sometimes if you’re having lower eyelid surgery, goes inside the eye as well in between the eyelids.
Ice is very important in decreasing the inflammation and swelling, we recommend using ice packs for the first 48 hours, 20 minutes on each hour while you’re awake and that should help significantly with that with the swelling and bruising.
The most important thing you need to know, if you’re having any bleeding, any pain, or anything that does not seem right to you, you need to contact your physician as you soon as you can.
