What sort of recovery period can you expect following a lower blepharoplasty? Well essentially it’s a surgical procedure, it will involve some bruising and some swelling. Now you can minimise the bruising and swelling in the early post-operative period by keeping your head elevated and applying cold compresses.
This essentially reduces the blood flow to the area, reduces bruising and reduces swelling. So generally with a lower blepharoplasty we would recommend that probably you’ll be back to social activities within 10 days to 2 weeks.
Now it does depend on the procedure used so a simple skin tightening procedure will have a quicker recovery than a fat reduction or a fat remodelling procedure. So it depends very much on the procedure and it’s really worth talking to your surgeon and asking them to explain exactly which procedure they would recommend and from their experience what recovery period they would anticipate for you.
We also recommend that you do listen to our information CD on blepharoplasty which spends a lot of time discussing the various techniques and recovery period and how you can try and make sure your recovery is as quick as possible.
